On Saturday, June 17, 2023 the replacement stone provided by the VA was set to honor Joshua Baker, whose headstone in Col. Ledyard Cemetery had deteriorated. It was given by Harry and Kathy Hudson, and Ron Hudson, Harry’s brother. Also appearing is Harry and Kathy’s daughter and her 10 month old son. The four current generations are seven generations removed from Joshua.
Joshua Baker was wounded in the Battle of Groton Heights and taken prisoner following the battle. He died in 1836 at the age of 84. Joshua’s younger brother, Andrew, was killed at Fort Griswold.
