Photos from our July 19, 2018 presentation, “Archaeological Discoveries at Fort Griswold”. Presenters were State Archaeologist Brian Jones and Hannah Lents, GIS specialist for Heritage Consultants, who conducted the most recent survey.
Images from our December 9, 2017 open house and bonfire. The event included tours of the fort, a carol sing led by members of the Groton Congregational Church, a visit from Saxophone Santa, free admission to the museum and monument, and marshmallows roasted over a cheery bonfire. The snowy weather was delightful!
This event, held on September 3, 2017, was a moving and memorable tribute to the 88 men who perished at the Battle of Groton Heights on September 6, 1781. Many thanks to all who made this event a success.
This was the first time the Coast Guard’s Guardians Big Band performed at the fort, and it was an absolutely perfect evening. The music was fantastic, the weather was gorgeous, and visitors had a lot of fun!
The sledding is always best at Fort Griswold just after a good storm. The key is to dress warmly, and prepare for the long walk up the hill between rides.
