On Thursday, July 18, independent historian Patricia Oat will present a program called “Behind the King’s Lines”, the story of a loyalist family from Preston who were forced into exile on Long Island during the Revolutionary War. The talk describes their experiences as refugees on Long Island, and their eventual return to Preston at the war’s end. Ms. Oat focuses her work on the experiences of people in southeastern Connecticut during the years of the American Revolution. This event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Please join us at 7 pm at the Monument House Museum on Park Avenue, Groton.
Prior to this event, the Friends of Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park will hold a brief Annual Meeting, including the presentation of the Patriot Award to longtime member Shirleyann Dunbar-Rose. For more information, contact email@example.com.
